Welcome to the Women in Ornithology Resource Group (WORG) Webpage
The Women in Ornithology Resource Group arose after the successful workshop
"Women in Ornithology" that was held at the 1994 AOU meetings. As a result
of the discussions inspired by the workshop it became clear that the field
of ornithology could do more to attract and retain women. Hence, the idea
of a resource group to help support women in ornithology was born. Wendy
Hill, Brook Lauro, and Susan Elbin became the core group that has sought
to implement some of the recommendations proposed at the workshop.
The name "Women in Ornithology Resource Group" underscores the view that
our activities are geared towards bringing together men and women interested
in providing additional support to those women ornithologists who might
require it. The group has been engaged in a number of tasks over the past
two and a half years in an attempt to fulfill this mission.
