    January 1998 Report

    Communications Committee Report – 15 January 1998

The communications committee currently has the following matters under consideration:

    1. The publication of The Administrator a minimum of four times during the 1998 year. Publication will also occur, perhaps as a short supplement ("extra edition"), when needed or as urgent news arises.

    2. The formation and use of focus groups of our constituents to develop plans for Assembly work and support of Assembly proposals to the central administration offices. This should assist in developing grassroots interest and support for the Assembly.

    3. The inclusion in The Administrator of a column highlighting "positive" working relationships, environments, or programs in place at various departments, offices, or other administrative groups on our campuses. This is to encourage development of individual initiatives toward positive administrative efforts by recognizing role models.

    4. Discussion of the impact of RUNet 2000 on Assembly work and the delegates' access to enhanced communication devices and systems.

Additional information on these topics will be communicated at future meetings as our committee becomes organized and begins its regular meetings.

    Jeffery L. Rankin
    Committee Chair
