Minutes of December 14, 2001 Administrative Assembly Meeting
Delegates in Attendance- Sue Beaudrow, Tina Sohn, Carol Bradley, Doug Reichert, Gloria Meyer, Sydell Spinner, Charles Olszewski, Rob Toth, Rick Crispin, Rosemarie Kulp, Alex Ruiz, Orlando Rodriguez, Barbara Nolan, Bob DeMartino
The meeting was called to order by President Rose Kulp at 12:16pm.
A motion to approve the minutes from Sept. 21 was made by Doug Reichert, it was seconded by Charles O. and passed.
President Kulp spoke about the untimely passing of Camden delegate Lambert Jackson. She said that a fruit basket was sent to the family from the Assembly. Sue Beaudrow then spoke about the funeral service and mentioned what a dedicated professional Lambert was. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his name can do so by sending it to: Grace Church in Haddonfield, 19 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
Bob DeMartino asked whether some kind of plaque could be made up for his many years of service. Perhaps this could be presented to his family at a small luncheon.
Charles mentioned that when a past AA President, Bob Buinno passed away while he was still a delegate, that they tried to have the President’s Award named after him, but President Bloustein nixed the idea.
A discussion was held trying to establish how long Lambert had served on the Assembly. No definitive answer was established. Rose will look into the feasibility of a plaque.
With Lambert’s passing, the Communication Committee is now in need of a new chair.
There were no volunteers to take on this chairmanship.
The question was brought up as to the status of having the President approve our new by-laws which were submitted to him some time ago. Rose said that she would check this out with Nancy Winterbauer.
New Delegate Status- We need a focus for the AA before we can send out new delegate forms. Rose suggested that the Executive Committee get together before the end of January to discuss where the Assembly is going.
Doug Reichert is working on a new Assembly info brochure for new staff. When completed, he will email it to Rose.
Info Fair Update – Doug wanted to thank delegates, Tina, Debbie, Sue and Rose for helping out at the info fairs on the 4th and 11th of October. Doug reported that 10 or 11 departments were represented at the fairs, these included The Mediation Center, Athletics, HR, Scheduling & Space Management, Police, Teaching Excellence, and Campus Information.
The fairs went well but were not that well attended, About 30-40 people came through.
Advertising was not as extensive as it could have been and that may have caused the low turn out. It was suggested that we send out a mass mailing flier next time.
It was asked whether or not we can hold these at Camden and Newark. Hopefully we can do this in the spring.
Rose spoke to Sandy Russell about piggy backing with HR next year at the Health Fair.
Updated Delegate list- Gloria will send it out in an email.
Problem Solving Procedure- Status has not changed since our September meeting.
Silver Knights- they had a very nice luncheon in Oct. It was very well attended. They are planning a luncheon/theatre trip on Feb. 14.
The Administrator – If anyone has any contributing material for the next edition, please forward it to Charles ASAP.
Other Business – It was suggested by Charles that we actively recruit new delegates form the ASB III building since they are so close they could walk to our meeting in the Labor Ed Building.
Rose thanked Rob and Rick for their computer assistance with keeping up the website and sending out mailings to delegates.
It was suggested that we have HR come in to talk at our next meeting to discuss pay for performance in light of the state funding problems.
Charles is trying to get Mike Mckay from RUCS to come and talk about where RUCS is going.
Charles made a motion to adjourn, it was seconded by Doug and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 12:45.
