Color Correction
of Fine Arts Images on the Computer

One of the more exciting outcomes, of the development of digital imagery, is the ability of the average computer user to manipulate color in images. Software tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, make it easy for anyone to begin improving the quality of images.

Skillful color correction of images requires the development of a critical "color eye". Most important to this development is an understanding of the individual colors of light and the relationships between colors. The light colors are different from the more familiar pigment color wheel in which the primary colors are red, yellow and blue and the secondary colors are orange, green and purple.

White is the presence of all color; black is the absence of color.
