Center for Ceramic Research

Rutgers' Center for Ceramic Research (CCR) was one of the first centers founded by the National Science Foundation to stimulate interactions between industry and universities. Officially designated an Advanced Technology Center by the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology in July 1984, CCR received major funding from the commission for capital equipment and for a new building. With additional federal and state funding, CCR opened 50,000 square feet of new laboratories and workrooms in 1988.

The purpose of the center is to conduct basic research in the broad range of areas at the forefront of ceramic science and technology that are relevant to the interests of industrial members. CCR provides major funding for graduate student research assistants in the ceramics program.
