This robber fly is perched on a twig. What's he waiting for?

  1. To warm up. Robber flies are extremely sluggish in the mornings.
  2. A mate. He's advertising to potential mates that he is available.
  3. The next-door neighbor. He's very territorial and chases off rivals.
  4. Food. He robs other insects of their lives.
