The first learning objective of this course is:

WHAT IS WINE?

  • the components of wine, how to make sense of wine,
  • wine tasting techniques and sensory physiology,
  • who drinks wine, when, how much, health effects of wine
  • how to make wines, fermentation
  • the viticulture/enology connection
  • grape varieties, where they grow etc...

The second learning objective is:

WHICH WINES ARE THERE TO CHOSE FROM?

  • European wines -- French, Italian, German, Spanish
  • North American -- California, Pacific Northwest, East Coast
  • Other wine-producing areas -- Australia, South America

There are many bonus point opportunities including invited wine tastings in this course!
