IRIS Rutgers University Libraries (RUL)

http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/
IRIS is the library system’s online catalog. All of the materials held by all Rutgers libraries, including the SMLR Library, are cataloged in IRIS. When beginning your search for library materials, always check IRIS first. If the book you are looking for is not held at SMLR but is held at another Rutgers library, you can have the book sent to the SMLR library via the “Deliver/Recall Book” button. If a book is normally held at the SMLR library but is currently checked out, you can have it recalled by clicking the same button.

Reserves and e-reserves

RESERVES & E-RESERVES

Reserve readings are available on an online reserve system called Sakai (http://sakai.rutgers.edu). These services are not affiliated with the SMLR library, but can be accessed from the library’s computers. For assistance with this program please contact Judy Lugo ( judyLugo@work.rutgers.edu) or Walkoviak, Laura (lawalkoviak@work.rutgers.edu).

Reserve materials for SMLR courses are also sometimes held in hard copy behind the SMLR library circulation desk and are available by request. They may be perused in the library and/or photocopied, but books on reserve may not be checked out. Films can be viewed on the library computers with headphones (available at the desk).

Interlibrary

INTERLIBRARY LOAN & DELIVERY (ARTICLES AND BOOKS)

In many cases, library materials unavailable from the SMLR Library or the Rutgers University Library system can be ordered through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This can be done through the RUL web site or by requesting assis-tance from the staff member at the reference desk. There are a variety of ILL/Delivery options, including campus delivery of books held in other RUL libraries and electronic delivery of journal articles held by RUL libraries:

  • Request delivery of Rutgers books that are not in your local campus library by the "Book Delivery/Recall" or "Book Special Request" option in IRIS.
  • Use E-ZBorrow to request quick delivery of books from over 30 academic libraries. Use Interlibrary Loan and Article Delivery Services to request journal articles from any Rutgers University library.
  • Use Interlibrary Loan and Article Delivery Services for materials not in the Rutgers University Libraries collections.
